4월 11일자로 주요 심장사상충예방약 성분이 수의사 처방손님에 함유됨에 따라, 도매상에서는 수의사의 처방전 없이 심장사상충약을 판매할 수 없다. 하지만, 동물약국은 ‘약사예외조항에 맞게 얼마든지 수의사 처방전 없이 판매 할 수 있는 한 상태이다. 동물을 진료하지 않고 의약품을 판매했다가 적발된 동물병원도 있었다. 현재 적용되고 있는 동물용의약품등 취급규칙에 맞게, 수의사는 동물의 진료를 행한 후 동물용의약품을 판매해야 끝낸다.
